The weather was perfect for this past weekend’s Magic City Art Connection festival. We picked up a print by Illinois artist Keith Grace. All of his artwork is saturated with letterforms and font sets, not too mention BRIGHT colors. Our find is perfect for our son’s room:

Perusing in the Park

The Magic City Art Connection (formerly Art in the Park) is this weekend. The three day free event will have the streets around Lynn Park blocked off thousands of Birminghamsters crowd into hundreds of white tents to see what is there.

I noticed that there are fewer print artists showing this year. I was somewhat surprised by that. There seems to be a renewed interest in printed art and posters these days. So I expecting more. Oh well. Maybe we’ll find a cool painting or something.

Shutterbug School

Stock up on film (or clear out the memory cards) and dust off your lenses, this Saturday PhotoCamp is pitching its tent at the Homewood Library.
Basically this event falls under the “unconference” kinda thing. So the attendees are also the instructors. If the shots on the Magic City Flickr Group are any indication, these folks have talent and it’s going to be good.

Wish I could be there (I need the instruction and I’m always looking for good freelance talent) but I’ll be down in Montgomery for the Alabama Book Festival. Maybe this one will be such a huge success they’ll have another one soon

If you build it they will come

Stupid stomach flu be damned! I’m back… and it’s just in time too. The new Apple store is opening here in town this Saturday at 10am. So we’ll be in line at 9am with hands out waiting for our free t-shirts (the 1,000 folks get one).

Apple emailed out the announcements yesterday morning. If you want more info you can find it here on the Apple site.
