New Chabon

I just saw in Bookmarks magazine where Michael Chabon has another new book coming out
?! I haven’t even read about the Yiddish policeman yet. The magazine said August of this year, but Amazon has it listed for October.

I’ve been told that the new book is a collection of short stories he’s done and has not been a hit with reviewers and pre-release folks. But I reserve the right to make that call myself and am looking forward to it!

A sound design?

snipshot_e49wna6i56p.jpgI’m really not crazy about this cover. Though I think the process is VERY cool. If I understand it correctly, then every book has it’s own cover, since each was “recorded” at a different place and time. I just wish that the designers had chosen different symbols, patterns, etc. for the machines to manipulate.
I realize none of this makes any sense. That’s why you should watch the first video on their site. The last video on site, is cool too, since it shows all the graphics being pushed around by the city’s sounds.

It chews you up and spits you out

typo.jpgI saw on Salon.com that David Silverman’s book Typo is coming out soon… Amazon says May 21st.

The story traces Silverman’s business venture with setting up, running and loosing a successful typesetting/design/publishing business. Silverman seems like someone who loves the publishing business too and jumped in with both feet.

I’m anxious to get this one in the tbr pile.

Doesn’t get any better

Chabon’s newest book is out and I haven’t picked up a copy yet. I saw a few in the bookstore, but after reading about the limited edition silk screened slipcover, how can I not hold out and hunt for my own box? So I’m passing on the hardbacks. It’s true, I am a sucker for book marketing ploys, but this really is cool.
Speaking of book marketing… one of the industry’s most energetic “pusherman o’ the printed page” is becoming one of the blogosphere’s most prolific reviewers and has just posted about Chabon’s book.
Say it with me… “Gotta get this book”… “Gotta get this book…
