For first pick through this year’s books, show up at the library at 6:30pm, on Friday, Aug. 15th and pay $2. That gets you in to bag the books and includes wine and snacks.
There is no cover charge for the rest of the sale (though you do miss out on the choicest picks)…
Saturday, August 16 the books will be on sale from 9 a.m.– 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, August 17 the books will be on sale from 2 p.m.– 5:30 p.m.
Monday, August 18 the books will be on sale from 9 a.m.– 8:30 p.m.
The Birmingham Museum of Art has opened an online doorway into their art library. If you’ve never been, there are tons of cool books there that aren’t available anywhere else in town. So many of the 35,000 items, you can’t check out. As of right now, the site is a bit bare bones and takes a few trial searches to figure your way through the catalog. Anyone heard of this? Or going? It’s on August 1-2 and sounds really cool and seems like book bargains could be found, especially since they are still in start-up mode. I think it’s only the second year for the Great American Bargain Book Show, which is aimed at libraries and book sellers. It’s also good to see these types of expos down in our corner of the country.
It popped up on my radar because I saw where they are letting librarians in for free. I’m not a librarian. I just like to keep up with all the cool kids! The rest of us have to pay the $60 fee ($50 if you pre-register).
