I didn’t see this coming

I just read that Frank Wilson is leaving the Philadelphia Inquirer… tomorrow! His blog was the second one I ever read. I still remember my first ‘hat tip’ regarding news about some lit prizes. His reliable posts and comments have been fun to try and keep up with. And I have to say there was always something cool about a professional book reviewer blogging all the while he’s penning ink to actual paper.

I’m hoping that Wilson will continue vetting the best and worst of book-inspired links for all of us, somewhere online.

Why I love I Love Typography

Because they post about cool stuff like the history of Bembo. It’s a pretty short explanation, shockingly titled Why Bembo Sucks. I though everyone liked Bembo? It seems to be every where. Anyway this article is chock full of info and makes for an interesting read even for folks not used to “talking fonts”.

Looking at logos

Here’s a fun post over at neatorama. It gives a very brief narrative on the design decisions behind some of the world’s most recognizable tech-company logos. Who knew that the bite was designed into the Apple logo just to keep it from looking like a cherry tomato?
