There’s a neat topic posted over on Osprey Design’s Foreword blog about using PhotoShop to doctor photos of people. The instance under review is the Katie Couric image that ran in a CBS magazine.

The Quills list has been released. This book award show is televised and sponsored/supported by all the major media conglomerates.
Basically everybody gets to vote on their favorite books and the books with the most votes wins. You can vote for your faves here. The polls close on September 30th.

The 2006 Quills will be shown on NBC, October 10th from New York City.
Penguin’s pen
Penguin Books has started a blog. It’s about two weeks old and sports nine posts today. It’ll be interesting to see how a big house like that handles a “conversational maketing” outlet like blogging.
A bit premature?
I’m finishing up Chris Anderson’s The Long Tail. It’s an interesting look at, what Anderson thinks as “current trends” in online retail.
I was just be-bopping along when I read Lee Gomes insightful WSJ article. Maybe Anderson is looking a bit too far into the future? And making a few too many assumptions?
I’ll post thoughts when I get done.
