New favorite haunt
We spent last weekend over in the Peach State, getting lost in Atlanta. Between bouts of “where the !@#$%^&! are we” I managed to squeeze in a few bookstore visits. My goal was to visit only stores I’d never been to… and I hit the jackpot.
It’s called Books Again and occupies a small store front in Decatur, GA (which is like 5 miles from downtown Atlanta). When I walked in I was greeted by a bookcase of $1 books. You know you are in the place of a like minded book person when they have sense enough to offer $1 books. Don’t get me wrong, he trades in the high-end stuff too. He currently has a collection of all the Pulitzer-winners in first edition (except for one , To Kill A Mockingbird, is the anniversary edition, but it is signed!!!) That collection will only set you back $16,000. He has lots of signed books by Southern authors too.
What I enjoyed is that you could find good solid copies (better than ‘reading copies’) for $4. That’s a GREAT price for a hardback you might be interested in reading. He has a very drool worthy section of ‘Books On Books’, too. Which is where I picked up my sole purchase Published in Paris (how is that for will power?)
My only regret is that I was so absorbed in the books that I didn’t take any pictures.
