Local print artist Charles Buchanan has another show at Naked Art. He’ll be at the gallery Friday, January 12th, 5pm-9pm and then again Saturday, January 13th, 1pm-6pm.
Over on his blog, Charles has been keeping us posted on his latest creations and work, for this show. We’re looking forward to seeing what he brings out the show.
But now is the time to snap up some of his prints… for I fear he’s been “discovered”.

This month, the Birmingham Library’s Central Branch has the coolest book exhibit. It features the book arts program over at the Univeristy of Alabama. We’ll take our camera when we go.

Some University of Alabama students are helping ship books to college-age students in Africa. Here’s a link to a press release about the cause and book-drop locations.
President Jimmy Carter will be in the Birmingham area on December 1st. He’s making the rounds promoting his new book Palestine Peace Not Apartheid.
I haven’t read it yet, but I’m told this latest release is about on par with Carter’s previous books. Sort of “same thoughts and rationale, just different backdop”. But I’ll have to pick up a copy and judge for myself.
You can only get yours signed if you have a ticket. Tickets can be bought at the Alabama Booksmith’s site or at the store. You buy one book, you get one line ticket. Makes sense. Of course, if you can’t make the December 1st event Jake at The Alabama Booksmith will make sure to hold you a signed copy, if you let him know!
